Threadlocker as liquid gasket?

I just cracked my za50 trans and it appears that the previous owner used blue threadlock as a liquid gasket...I'm not 100% sure, because I've never used blue threadlock before, but it's a blue previously-liquidy rubber. When I seal it back up, can I do as they did, or do i need to purchase a real gasket? or a real liquid gasket solution?

it's blue RTV not rare just a sealer ..

Re: Threadlocker as liquid gasket?

Yeah..blue locktite turns brown when dried..definately RTV.

Re: Threadlocker as liquid gasket?

Treats was sold out of ZA clutch gaskets so I had to make my own.

I traced and cut 2 out of gasket paper then sandwiched a little RVT in the middle.

That said, I plan on buying a ZA clutch gasket ASAP.

With those bearings on the inside of the cover, the gasket thickness could be an issue.
