So my friend bought this tomos dirt bike for a song . He brought it over , had it running in an hour or so with a quick carb cleaning . Motor looks like an A55 and is a kick start model but says A5 . Anybody know anything about this A5 . Also looking to replace disk brake lines . Suckers look like tiny cables but held fluid once upon a time . What gives ? Any input would be great .

The head on an a35 engine says "a5". Pics would help tho
I have never seen a TX-50 with an A55. I am guessing (since I have ONLY seen the dirt bikes with A35s, but again, a pic will seal the deal) that it is an A35 as well
my tx 50 has an a35, and the cyl. does say a5 on it

The a35 engine is commonly called "a5" just because of designation problems. We know it as the a35, tomos and technicians know it as both a35 and a5. I think they did the double name thing to reduce confusion between it and the a3 engine, but they just failed and made it more confusing.
If you don't know the difference between an A3, A35 and A55 just by looking at them I think you should hang up your wrenches..

I think I will hang up the old wrenches . I must not be too dumb to live , just to dumb to wrench . I thought it was an a55 , maybe something weird . I knew it wasnt an a3 . Any way to swap stators so it has a light coil ? This thing has 2 wires coming out of the case . Only one is hooked up . But it runs . On one wire !
