My '77 Ciao finally left this world after a violent roadside explosion and I was forced to buy a new Honda Elite S. After a few mods I was able to get the bike up to around 50 mph, but it seriously sacrificed economy. I'm down to about 15 mpg. What can I do to remedy this?

Patent your spark plug! If you do not have to pedal home, thus increasing your mileage, because your plug is fouled, then you have something here.
Or you could trade it for a late model SUV, they can beat this mileage.
