Helmet headsets, anyone?

I'm looking for a headset for a full face helmet. Helmet speakers with mic, with a cord that attaches to either a cell phone or 2 way radio. Anyone have any suggestions? Google shows a ton of options, and most look like cheap shit. Going on a cross country tour with the lady this summer, bringing the peds and doing tons of rides, thought it would be nice to have.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

I personally have no experience with them but one of the guys I snowmobile with has one that works great, its just a 2way radio but I imagine you will never be that far apart. look into what the ones for snowmobile helmets are going for, might be a good alternative with the season ending.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

OMG! Only listen to the sound of your engine, At all times! Even when sleeping!

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

Keegan, thanks, I'll do that. Todd, thanks for nothing, that reply is shit.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

how can i hook my iphone to my helmet so i can stream pandora while i ride?

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

I want an LCD in my visor to watch porn while I ride.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

Todd, have you used that? I saw that one but wanted a user opinion. Porn LCD in visor is a solid idea. Kirk, there a many threads about helmet speakers, or just using ear buds, but most of them end up with people just yelling about safety, so you might not find anything too useful.

IRC with PPT button. I use those with a Cobra set and they work fine on a motorcycle at any highway speed without wind interference. You need a pigtail adaptor sometimes to connect your radio, all depends on the plug in pin size of the receiver set.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

I have used the Scala Rider . It worked ok.

Use it only for brief communication .. when u r on

... when you are riding on the highways you need your ears wide open to everthing happening around you.

Re: Use it only for brief communication .. when u

They are illegal for on the road use in a lot of states...

Re: Use it only for brief communication .. when u

Your state included...

i've heard talk of people using bluetooth. anyone have experience with that>

Re: Use it only for brief communication .. when u

ipod headphones under a full face always worked for me, but I agree, listening to the engine is always more enjoyable.

Re: Use it only for brief communication .. when u

I've been one of the ones who always starts yelling, not so much about safety, more about stupidity, but that's because those topics usually start off about some kid wanting to listen to some hipster tunes on his ipod while he's riding because his moped and chrome bag just aren't cutting it for him anymore, but yes, we should avoid that topic.

As far as helmet to helmet goes, Chatterbox has always pretty much been the best known as far as motorcycles go. You could probably get away with something cheaper if you're on mopeds, going slower and staying closer together, but I'd look into something like this.....

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

wiff, you read my mind. i still want the head phones for audio.

instead of hearing the "ring-ring-ring-a-ding!" of a puch, i want to hear "uh, uh, uh, UH, UUUUUUH!!! of a raunchy sex.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

Sorry Adam If I came off dickish in my first post, I once posted something similar and got reamed for not listening to my ped engine at all times.

Re: Helmet headsets, anyone?

It's all good Todd; one never can tell over the intertubes, gotta keep the $.02 comments in check. I think i might actually remember that post, were you asking about music while riding? If so don't sweat it man, anyone who thinks the blare of their kitted ped is keeping them safer than the blare of music is kidding themselves. Uh oh, I started an argument again, better log off for a couple days.
