Would 2.75 tires fit the Hobbit?Seems like the rims are wide enough and the rear swingarm clearance has enough.Anyone got pics of some 2.75 on their Hobbits?

doesn't fit in the fenders
it can be done but it ain't easy. you'll have to true the back rim, cut and close the vent on the left side, take off the coil and cut a chunk out of that angled indention and weld in a new flat piece, take off the kick stand or make a new one, and cut out some of the lower air box and replace it with a piece that is concaved in. the reason for all this is so the tire moves forward enough to have the correct belt tension. the 2.75 and 3 are taller also, so it will rub unless pulled all the way back. then, if you have a new belt the driven pulley on the rear will be open some and you'll lose low end.
It's nice to know that Scooter is only a nickname-whew,,
I was like, How does this guy know so much about puttin' fatties on a hobbit, all the way down to the belt tension.
Phew.
You got it exact.
2 of us are running hutchison gp1s and they fit just fine with no fabbing.. no front fenders
Whats this "2 of us are RUNNING them" haha yea they fit but like they said you will lose the front fender rear is pretty close and with heat may expand a bit so pull it back as far as you can.
I got no fender front and rear. Hate returning stuff to Treatland. Gotta go there just to return and was just there yesterday. So it can fit? If possible I rather try.Waiting for someones reply. Headed to to 1977 in a couple of hours and Treats is nearby.Rather not return. They don't have too much tires 2.5 at the moment
Scooter, ha, just a nick name, I thought the same before I met him.
YES IT WILL FIT ON FRONT AND BACK i have camino 6 stars and they fit fine. Spokes will prob work to just ask the 1977 kids when your there.
Width at the back at a glance looks okay . Hitting the front part of the swingarm would be close. I guess it fits the camino it should fit mine. The spoke rims looks wide enough to take the 2.75. My Maxi N has some 2.5 I was going to do a switch but noticed the Maxi N rims are not as wide as the Hobbits. 2.5 might be max on the Maxi N
I have a 2.5 Hutchinson on the front and a 2.75 Hutchinson on the back of my Hobbit. I have modified the rear fender but I did the mod for another reason and am not certain it was necessary to fit the tire. No swingarm mod's were required.
I had to form the front fender top struts to clear the outside of the tire and it still rubs a little. I have spoked wheels.
The tires look great on there...
Since I got no front fender then I guess I am good to go. It is taller than a 2.25 which I have right now. In the rear, how much space do you have before hitting the front swingarm?. I would imagine width is no problem I guess. Any pictures?
Listen to scooter, he has a 3" gazelle on his hobbit, he knows what he is talking about.
Get 2.5's, put em on, and blast.
i can say with some certainty that some 2.75 fit easily on hobbits, some will not. not all 2.75's are the same, depends on brand.
the brand is Hutchinson Gp1. Really 3" fit? That's what you call sticky. I really like the GP1. I have 2.5 on my Maxi. It was just 2.75 were the only one available in that brand at that moment.I also want the fatest tire for that Hobbit that I was fixing up. Trying to see a pic of it.Anyone?
Here is a pict oh Scooters hobbit (if thats what you want to call it) with 3 inch gazells.
As I stated, the 2.75 Hutchinson GP1 fits on the back of a Hobbit with no mod's to the swingarm.
I put on Gazelle 2.75's on my Hobbit yesterday and they fit just fine. Well, I did have to take off my front fender, but the rear tire did fit with the fender left on. Haven't tested the nitty gritty on the performance end, but as far as fitting the tires in there, it was not a problem.
seems like the pic of scooters hobbit would not load up. Really want to see some. I will keep mine then and make them fit. Thanks to all..
I use these break>
They are effing great.
You need to ditch the fenders, and use a hammer to deform the subframe to fit. The kickstand will also rub. Angle grinder.
The kickstand will also then no longer work because the tires are too tall. Hammer again.
I see the pict fine.
ohh, the gazelle will fit, but the tolerance is so close. tires expand when your riding. i had an 1/4" on each side of the tire before i tore into it. that's not alot.
i guess i just like cutting shit up
