Hey!
I just recently purchased a 79 Motobecane Mobylette and I cannot find any concrete statement concerning how much oil I should add per gallon of gas. I know this is stupid, I just don't want to mess it up. Thanks!

Just run it at 3 oz of oil to a gallon of gas (43 to 1)
That is easier than trying to measure 56 hundreths of an ounce.
(50 to 1 is 2.56 ounces of oil)
43 to 1 gives a little extra engine protection with a little more oil.
Just make sure you buy "Two Stroke Oil"
Sal,
Read Fred's post called "How to fix your Moped". On average, his gas/oil mix is good for modern oils.
For reference, my '79 Model 7 calls for 40:1 but I usually err on the side of slightly less oil.

oops on the last meassgae there... anyway, ive noticed that my moby runs pretty crappy unless i get the mixture "perfect" too little oil, and it loses power at top end. Too much oil, and acceleration is dawg slow. It use like 5 ounces to get it right, but the bike frame says 4 ounces to the gallon.
The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

I have no idea who wrote it but:

I ended up using 4 oz, worked pretty well. I'll try other slight variations until I get it perfect. Thanks alot!
