This was only after about 2 hours of soaking! As you can see there is some pitting from the rust, but it's as smooth as glass!
Only one problem, I snapped the piston rings while attempting to remove them from the piston, so now I have the impossible task of trying to find replacements.
What did you do? Is that where you put lye in water and run a current through it from a battery charger? My dad and I did that on a bunch of stuff for his chevelle but it looked like new not like your pic were its still rust colored.

This page pretty much sums up the process I was talking about with the lye and water.
I did this to my old magnum tank and it murdered the rust i let it soak for like 48hrs its a nutty way to remove rust but sooo worth it.
