I read somewhere (in my internet/library research) that federal regulation require that.. with normal maintenance.. small engines sold in the U.S. be capable of 100 thousand miles of operation.. or equivalent hours? Yeah, I wonder if that is "specs" for Never Never Land, USA?
When I got my Newport, the speedometer cable wasn't hooked up right, so I'm not sure how many miles it had on it, but after fixing it, I've ridden it maybe 40 or 50 miles. The total odometer reading right now...6,377. But, theoretically, as long as parts are available, anything can be kept functional forever.
The A3 Engine on my old Golden Bullet TTLX had a crapload of mileage on it, I do not remember offhand how much, but it was somewhere over 6k...and the odometer broke not long after that...bout 6 months later the ped that engine was on (and I was on) was mangled by a car, and I dismounted the engine and rigged it to another frame, and put prolly somewhere past 15k total on it....bastard still ran last time I saw it, too.

What I want to know is, when would it be considered an entirely different moped? Is the moped a frame? I know people who say they have X many mopeds, but sometimes one is just a nonfunctioning engine and wheel on a frame. If you replace all the parts, is it still the same moped? Or is "moped" defined by "engine"? I just bought an identical moped to the one I already own in hopes of using it as a parts bike when one of them dies; so now I own two, but some day, I'll only have one. Where will the other one have gone?

i had a moped with 9768 miles on the odometer but the ped had 20,000 total. the cylinder is way to big for the piston. does anyone knoe where i can get an oversized piston or if they make it?
