snowflake desirability?

does anybody even still care about these?

seems like when i first got into mopeds people still wanted these...

now after nearly every ped i ever found had them i dont get why. theyre really common and personally theyre pretty ugly, at least compared to spokes or 5-stars. plus loose bearings FTL.

people still act like theyre worth their weight in gold and i wanna know if they really ARE still desirable or if people are still going by 2007 prices?

Re: snowflake desirability?

i dont really go nutty over em, id rather a clean set of spokes anyday. Hard to modify that rear sproket , and pain in the as expensive brakes. But yeah people still think they are cool.

Anyone thiking im joking contact me ill trade ya a set for some spokes.

Re: snowflake desirability?

They have the larger brakes . Shoes are fairly easy to get .

Re: snowflake desirability?

aweful

Re: snowflake desirability?

fairly easy to find, but more expensive. I like em on a freespirit or a murray tho.

Its all what ya like.

Re: snowflake desirability?

Actually they are way harder for me to find cause i have a bunch of new lelu pads but none for flakes haha.

Re: snowflake desirability?

ive seen a couple peds they look good on, and they look much better painted of course.

5-stars are just such a clean design, i dont get why they used them less in america. seems like every puch in europe has a set of 5-stars on them and in the US theyre damn near impossible to find in the wild.

spokes look great on just about any bike though. classic.

Re: snowflake desirability?

I like clean spokes but snowflakes look great painted and dont have the rust issues that many old spoke sets have when left out in the rain for 30 years. To me they just look more unique and of that era whereas spokes look more or less the same and can be found on bikes from all eras.

Re: snowflake desirability?

5 stars are cooler but i still like the spokes.

i wont trade my gold 5 stars for spoke tho. I dont like em that much haha

Snowflakes arent hideous or anthing, i like em, but actually like em stock color and on like a murray or a freespirit, or on the magnum version that is supposed to have em.....

There is a lot of kinda hideous rims out there, dont think puch has any of em in the top three ( 5 stars, Spokes, Snows )

You can do a whole lot worse then that group with other brands.

Re: snowflake desirability?

I dont' think they are the coolest mags, By any means. But I do have a set that came on my MK2. And I just started painting them today. Only got one done but I think they look rad painted. Check it out ---> Attached Photo. Sunburst Red Hottness

I kinda like the look of them, but I'm finding that they are a bit of a hassle. Treats has $20 brakes now, but the smaller sprocket issue and loose bearings are my complaints.

Has anyone done a two tone paint scheme or anything on snowflakes? picts?

Re: snowflake desirability?

You know it is funny that you asked about two tone, Mattso.

I stopped halfway through with my red paintjob earlier today when it was half red half gray. For a second I though, Hmmm two tone??? Nawwww, then finished with the red.

The two tone would be a lot of work, i thought about it but i want to see some ideas of how others may look first.

Re: snowflake desirability?

Yeah, It is hard to make two tone look good unless you have pro painter status. I am sure it would look like a five year old painted it, If I tried to pull off a two tone paint job. But I think it could be cool if done well and with the right colors.
