more tomos power

I have a new Tomos Targa LX and it runs great on flat to slight inclines...problem is, there are tons of steep hills here. There is a 20 mph speed limit for mopeds in NC, but nobody's bugged me yet for goin 35...I've already planned on gettin a biturbo exhaust when the 300 mile break-in is passed, but does anyone have any other ideas for more torque? Any help would be appreciated....

Re: more tomos power

I believe you can change the sprockets to give you more torque. However, you will sacrifice a bit of top end speed by doing this. I'm not exactly sure, but I think you make the back sprocket smaller to give you better acceleration, but like I said I'm not sure. I've seen it discussed on this board though.

Make the front sprocket smaller, or the back one larger, or a combination of both. They sell tomos sprockets at www.themopedjunkyard.com

Re: more tomos power

I got a 27 tooth from themopedjunkyard. If the 25 tooth does for torque what

the 27 did for my top end, you'll enjoy riding a lot more.

Sprockets...bigger or smaller ? What happens ??

bigger front sprocket > higher top speed, accelerates slower

smaller rear sprocket > higher top speed, accelerates slower

.......(same effect).......

smaller front sprocket > lower top speed, accelerates harder

bigger rear sprocket > lower top speed, accelerates harder

......(same effect)........

One tooth on the front has about the same effect as a change of 2 teeth on the back.
