going faster for cheap

the airbox on my moped, 76 hercules seems restrictive, but I don't want to have to take the carb off to compensate. Would opening up the airbox be a bad idea? Also, are there pipes, sprockets, big-bore kits, and exhaust pipes available for older sachs engines?

Re: going faster for cheap

I drilled holes in my box about 3000 miles ago and haven't had any problems. It did help my performance quite a bit.

To be on the safe side, I mix about 1/2 ounce more oil in the gas for a little extra protection because I figure i'm now running a little more lean. You can try it and if it doesn't work, you can always plug up the holes. Also, I don't seem to have much luck with the Sachs stock air filters. I made my own that fits inside the plastic box which performs much better.

Re: going faster for cheap

would drilling a whole in a tomos air box help performance and speed

Re: going faster for cheap

what about an fa50

Re: going faster for cheap

NO.. don't drill holes in an FA50 airbox .. they run too lean already.

Re: going faster for cheap

try a plug chop and put in a larger jet to compensate if needed
