porting!!!

ok well not real porting, but i just filed my intake to make the hole bigger and the intake port on the motor and gained like 5-10 mphs, the best 10 bucks i spent in a long time....

Re: porting!!!

and while he was doing that I put a new base gasket on and removed my oil injection and lost like 5mph. Would a thicker base gasket cause a loss in power?

Re: porting!!!

definitely could. some people remove base and head gaskets or just put gasket maker on and have power gains. It will raise compression to take them out but case sometimes screw timing. adding thicker could lower compression and screw timing.

Re: porting!!!

compresion has nothing to do with top speed (ok if u have enuf it creates drag but i doubt it is enuf to notice) it might affect your timing though or an air leak could be made.

Re: porting!!!

it accelerates a lot slower now.

Re: porting!!!

so the porting gave you a better top end primarily?

Re: porting!!!

If I use anerobic sealant, can I not use a base gasket.

It is for aluminum cases.

I don't want an airleak.

Re: porting!!!

Use a stock base gasket with grey rigid permatex gasket sealant and you will be golden. And Yes compresion loss will effect mostly lowend power.

Re: porting!!!

Can porting be done to enhance top end more so than low end.

I'm trying to get more mph out of my Tomos A3.
