Running any sort of pump dry is a bad idea. DO NOT simply run pre-mix with nothing in your oil tank.

Not sure how the Puch system is set up, but on my Chappy I just removed the drive gear and put the pump back on, then I plugged the hole in the intake. The pump is still there, so no gaping hole, but it doesn't spin. Look into it.
