Trying to move to San Francisco, but it's too damn expensive to find a new lease, so now I'm just looking for rooms. Anyone have something available?
I have a peugeot and a moby, do you have a back patio safe for mopeds?

Have you been here before? Most places don't have back patios that you could easily wheel your moped into without going through the apartment.
My advice is for you to prioritize the type of neighborhood your moving into, so if you don't find a basement or garage of some sort, It will be okay to park it outside....which is what a lot of us have to do.
Good to know, I was considering buying six or seven u-locks for at-night parking, and just taking one with me when riding.
2 words...OUTER SUNSET
you don't need that many locks. I used to use a u-lock through my back tire and shocks or around the square frame above the air filter on my peugeot. as long as you're not living in the tenderloin or hunter's point you'll be fine. and don't move to the outer sunset, it's cold and boring.
bah! sunset is cheap, safe, and ultra moped friendly.
not as cheap as couch surfing in the height....

yeah, if you want a moped friendly environment, you can't beat the outer sunset. I actually live in a garage, so I I have storage right in front of my apartment in the garage. I also have a back patio and yard that is only accessible from my room/place. if you're looking for a place with a garage, the outer sunset is going to be your best bet. you won't be within walking distance of the clubs/bars, etc. but you are close enough to get to them within 15 minutes or less and you get the ocean and the park (and we have our own places like the Riptide--trailer park night is the best, you get free tasty casserole made by the cute bartender chick...mmmmm). I know a lot of people hate it out here and that's fine with me -- stay the fuck out of my neighborhood! I've lived in SF on and off since 1997 and have lived in other hoods and I don't want to live in any other neighborhood in SF. I guess it all depends on where you are moving from. I moved here from seattle so the grey and cold never bothered me. Plus, people stay away because they think it is always foggy out here (good, let them keep thinking that so they stay the fuck away). don't move here if you don't want to, but don't complain if your moped is stolen from being parked on the street at Haight and Webster.
dude, it can happen anywhere in the city:
Not that I don't love the Outer Sunset, but Outer Richmond has better weather. Cross to the north side of the park, get the same cheap rent, garages, easy parking, park and beach, with an extra 30 days of sun. The extra 20 or so feet of elevation and distance from the Alemany Gap (or Fog Freeway) makes a significant difference.
Plus we've got express buses that get you downtown or back in 30 minutes for when your moped is broken. N line sucks
i know, i know. just sayin, sunset rocks.
the n-judah does suck, but I never take MUNI (well, I haven't in 8 years).
you don't wanna live out here if you have to rely on MUNI because it takes all day to run a single errand. also, if you go out at night and need to get back, it takes forever to get home after midnight.
but, still, I love my hood. muni sucks. don't take it.
Mopeds rock, but without a moped...
MUNI rocks! Cheap, goes everywhere, good for the planet, and city parking sucks, except in the Avenues :)
Hey 'Brokane, you back? Sunset Riders, you still sunset riding? My crankcase is rebuilt, and I'm working on re-seating my valves now. Still have to put everything back together, and I've got a pair of Indian snowflake wheels I want to install by the rally, but I've got all the parts I think (save for some tubes) and almost have the Chief 4 stroking the avenues again.
How about a Sunset/Richmond Tune up day pre-rally? This weekend or next.
sounds great! this wednesday is gonna be a big one, and this weekend im tryin to do a bbq and day ride.
My roommate is emailing you right now. the two of us met on here so why not a third!
yeah I just sent the email, hope to hear from ya soon
good on you for being so idealistic!! lol ... honestly, it is a nice vibe and attitude, but in my experience MuNi is just about as likely to kill you as it is to transport you.
i remember last january, i went to 7-11 and OH SNAP! dead body being pulled from under the N. blood and guts everywhere. ut was awesome.
yah, death by MUNI has become a common thing. I think that was some old lady and the MUNI train was at fault because it didn't stop at the stop sign. It's becoming something of a joke how many people are killed each year by MUNI.
my neighbors hate me in the sunset! but its the land of running stop signs
