Trac - good or bad?

somebody has offered me a 1985 Trac moped. these use Tomos engines, right? i'm assuming these are pretty decent. can anybody tell me anything about them? did they make a top tank model in '85? he didnt say what model it was, just that it was a Trac and that "it's just like a puch"...whatever that means.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

I believe they are Korean mopeds. Not the same as tomos or puch. It's probably a dailem engine. Not easy to get parts for. My buddy had one. When it did run it ran great.

Chas

IMO I'd stay away from it unless it's real cheap.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

i have buddy who has one... its reletively big and bulky but looks pretty sick with some cafe bars... it is a top tank but is still a step through...

the one my friend has is a "no-ped" with kickstart..

it runs great and is fast as hell!! i love cruising on it

get it if its worth it to ya

Re: Trac - good or bad?

If it has a Laura motor, no.

If it has a Daelim motor, yes.

They are badass peds, but that Laura motor is no fun.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

I agree. I have an '87 Trac Olympic with the Daelim engine and I JUST got a piston for it. It runs a very strong 30 mph, but sounds like it's gonna fly apart. Smoothest ride ever though.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

"it is a top tank but is still a step through"

WTF?? Is it Schrodinger's moped?

Re: Trac - good or bad?

hard as hell to find parts for but mine would do 38 mph stock and was smooth as a bays bottom

Re: Trac - good or bad?

holy shit. 38 stock? now im interested.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

I had a trac clipper that did 39-40 stock, 2 speed daelim motor. The clutches are the weak point, but theyre strong motors, high quality heavy duty peds, hydraulic forks ect..

Re: Trac - good or bad?

2 speed can go quick but most likely the one your looking at is not a two speed. The model your looking at is probably a Trac Sprint. This was my first moped and I still own one now. There is a photo section on this site. Hope I helped.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

Trac mopeds are good. If you get a Laura M-56 engine and as long as you do not get one that breaks belts for no reason, you are good. I had one that the belt never gave me any problem, and i have seen one that the belt would break for no reason. If the belt is still on there then that is a good sign it will not eat up belts.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

haha, he mentioned the belt was broken.

Re: Trac - good or bad?

i dont know about it then. the laura engines can lick my nuts. i had the two speed daelim engine
