YAMAHA 1985 QT50

I NEED HELP FIXING THIS BAD BOY UP I HAVE DETAILED IT AND PUT ALL THE ORIGINAL STICKERS BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO KICK INOT GEAR IF ANY OF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN OUT THERE I NEED HELP TRYING TO FIX THE THROTTLE CABLE THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE THROTTLE IT DOESN'T SEEM TO GO BACK ON ITS OW WHAT I MEAN IS WHEN I REV THE ENGINE I THEN HAVE TO TURN IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS I BELIVE THIS IS BC MY CABLE WIRE IS POPING I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AND ALSO IT WOULD HELP IF YOU COUPLD TELL ME HOW TO TURN IT UP TO MAKE IT GO FASTER

Are you saying that your throttle cable is hanging up? Check for sharp bends in the cable, and try to route it so that it makes large bends, rather than sharp ones. Squirt some WD40 where the cable goes into the housing, at the throttle grip, and work the cable back and forth. Make sure your initial settings on the carb screws are correct.

Looks for places where the outer cable housing is broken; that can make the cable hang up. The cable might be frayed somewhere, which will make it hang up. In either case, get a new throttle cable from your Yamaha dealer...

The QT only has one gear. Change the gear oil, and if that doesn't do it, you may need a new clutch.

I've only had my QT for 3 weeks now, and I'm still dealing with my own problems with it, so I can only offer general mechanical advice (experience with VWs, none with 'peds)... Seems like a solid little bike, though.

yeah my wire is frayed at the top though like really close to the throtle and i just put electrical cable around it but it still won't go back on its own. are u saying that for my ped to go faster just chancge the oil the gear oil bc right now it goes 20 and it should easily go 25 also where are the carb screws
