nodetergent???

what is a non-detergent oil ?

Re: nodetergent???

it's just oil that does not have detergents put into it. check the label/description to see what kind of oil it is. many car engines use detergent oils. mopeds don't.

Re: nodetergent???

mopeds use 2-stroke oil. non detergent oil is what they used to use in cars back in the 'good old days' when bias ply tires lasted 10k miles, and the reason cars lasted 10 years was because roads were so shitty you could only put about 5k miles a year.... 'non-detergent oil is pure base stock oil. the 'detergents' are stabilisers, solvents to prevent 'sludgeing' of the crancase, oil 'coking' (carbonization)and all the other crap that happens when oil is exposed to heat. the higher the sae rating (as in; SD, SE, SF, SG..) the newer standards it conforms to about engine protection. there is a reason 'non-detergent' oil is cheap as hell. like the difference between dirt weed and 'kind bud.'

Re: nodetergent???

make sure you keep the difference between the two kinds of oils most mopeds use.

two-stroke oil (synthetic or non-sythetic or ashless) is used in the fuel mixture.

another oil is used in the crankcase. some mopeds use type f transmission fluid. but other use engine oil (usually 20 or 30 weight). that's the oil that has to be non-detergent.
