so here's my question...

while all these companies make these performance parts for upgrading your current moped engine....why doesnt somebody just bite the bullet and make WHOLE, RELIABLE 70-100cc engines that just bolt onto existing Puch (or whatever) mounts? you could charge out the ass, and probably still make a killing.

Re: so here's my question...

Or an even better thought, build a new moped based off the design of the old puchs!

Id love to see a new production line of maxis and magnums.

Re: so here's my question...

i mean, sure it would take away the fun of tuning your own bike and building it up the way you want or whatever, but isnt the whole reason people kit/enhance their bikes just because they like how nimble, and cool-looking old mopeds are, but they want speed as well? plus isnt everybody's main gripe with kits the fact that they make the engine less reliable? and arent most people scared to put them on for that very reason? i'm just saying, people buy those Lifan 130cc engines and put them on CT70s and stuff, why not make a similarly-sized puch/motobecane/vespa/whatever engine so people can get crazy on their mopeds without ruining the original engine?

Re: so here's my question...

well, since Piaggio (i think) owns the Puch name, they'd have to do it. and you know theyd fuck it up by adding some "modern" touch to the bike visually so it just wasnt cool anymore.

if they could build a maxi/newport that looked EXACTLY like the old ones, but had like..a fuel-injected super smooth 50cc engine with new technology...maybe a digital readout in place of the old speedo....damn. i would buy 50 for all my friends.

Re: so here's my question...

Thats true.

Nothing like a brand new top end on a 30 year old bottom end.

You can get whole vespa engines still, but then again, they're still in production in europe.

Its a whole profitability margin. only people here would buy those engines, because no one really drives a puch daily that knows how to tune it, that isnt a member of moped society.

Re: so here's my question...

thats the thing, it COULD be profitable i bet, its just these companies arent aware of that fact by looking at the general public.

Re: so here's my question...

if ever came out with new mopeds that looked just like the old ones i would be so pissed off because i would want one so bad but they would probably end up costing a shit load. yup
