Batavus M56 Cleaning

I'm putting together a sort of franken engine from M56 parts. I took a decent top end from another engine which seems to have seized from rust or something on the crankshaft. I've got all the parts i need aside from a couple piston rings and some new terminals for various parts of the electrical system. In swapping the parts around nothing seemed too clean, i was wondering if i should pull the whole thing apart and try to clean it as well as possible or if i might be able to try flushing everything out with some cleaner. I'm leaning towards pulling it all apart because i've got the time till the piston rings arrive but if there's a good way to save the effort i'd be glad to hear it.
