MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Whos got some insight on these two oils? Ive been using the strawberry IPONE for like 4 years, no problems and it smells so sweet! I bought the MOTUL 800 today because supposedly its "better".

Anyways, Ive always mixed two filler caps to a quart, 8 to a gallon. How about you guys with the MOTUL 800?

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Motul is definatly better, but I can't tell you how much, or really why. Less carbon buildup I think.. and stuff..

We sell little things you can add to the mix to make your exhaust scented at Sportique now. I think like maybe 10bucks for 10gallons worth. It's pretty neat, I'm rocking grape pez in my CB.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

are yu working at sportique in boudler?

what should i mix this motul stuff at?

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

MOTUL 4evaH!

I just can't trust something that smells like strawberries.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

If you're running a stock bike mix the Motui 50:1. Kitted anywhere from 34:1 to 25:1. Motul 800 is an amazing oil.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Yeah, I'm going full time there (I think) next week. I'm back in the shop with Cole (Woo!). You should stop by sometime.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

im using klotz at the moment.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Fuck Motul. Costs too much.

Fuchs Silkolene rocks the Great White North.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

iphones are strawberry scented? Damn, they do everything!

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

sweet. i went there yesterday, i guess you were working. i dont know how you put up with some of those guys... lol some major attitude problems going on

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

They're all good guys, really. Mike shows no emotion, and even if he likes you you probably wont know it for a while.

Thing you have to understand is just how many morons come in there talking about their moped/scooter while they know nothing about it. The word becomes interchangable for a lot of people who bought crap off craigslist, and unless they know you have a ped/scoot, and that you know your shit, you're nothing more than another uninformed sheep looking to save gas.

I wasn't in yesterday, but if you stop by while I'm there I'll introduce you around. Once they see you're not just some schmuck, they'll treat you more like a person.

There's also the fact that we're backed way up on repairs, have 25+ People 50s that have been preordered, but not delivered by Kymco. Have a slew of People 50s that we did get in/were able to sell that are having issues with the fuel tap, which only now have we accurately diagnosed/been able to fix.

It's unpleasant to deal with people there right now.. All the guys there (except the big one, Pete) own mopeds. Mike has a tricked out Moby that never runs, Cole has a HS50 Batapuch that he's done some awesome kit/paint work to. Tim has a Citimati that he siezed or something. Rachel has a Puch Kromag that runs like a dream... The guys don't get to work on theirs much now with all of the repairs backed up, and aren't into it enough to stay after for the peds (it's hard to be when you never got a chance to get it running right).

Expect some moped rides in Boulder for the fall.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

USE Amsoil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Word. I meant to say you werent working. (just woke up, cant type) I think i dealt with mike. There was some cute girl out front just kicking back on a scooter. That should be her job. haha

Are you living in Boulder now? Im all for rides in boulder! You know its fucking gorgeous. Im off to work...

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

I mention this when I get the chance. Klotz 'super technilube' (and probably any other caster oil mix) leaves (this is my own limited experience, but was verified by a phone tech at Klotz one afternoon) enough gum and carbon behind to require much more frequent tear downs (decarbonizing everything). If it says on the bottle 'for racing engines only' what that translates to, according to that tech, is that it'll protect beyond conventional oils against the extreme abuse of racing, but the tradeoff is higher deposits. Apparantly many of these race engines get torn down/rebuilt every two or so races, so it's well worth it to use these oils.

Call the company that mskes your oil. I was pretty impressed such a straightforward answer from Klotz. Other companies might not be so level with that info.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

oh, mines not the one for racing engines, just the TC-W3 synthetic they sell at blue cat, one of the scooter shops here in minneapolis. haven't noticed too much deposits, but ill keep an eye out.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

Hey Zack,

Do you know Adam Biddle?

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

You really mix heavier with 800? I would think you could mix less really. That shit is the bomb. Anything over 50:1 would be over kill me thinks.

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

I've been running Motul 800 for like 8 years, ever since I heard of it.

50:1 on my kitted 66 Vespa and 50:1 on my mopeds. I always do my break in with regular 2 stroke at 50:1 with a slightly rich jet, (like 2 sizes higher than it should be)... Just enough for a plug to last a week... After break in I throw in a cool plug and run 50:1 Motul 800... Never even had a soft seize or anything using 800. Expensive but totally worth it...

Re: MOTUL vs IPONE oil and mixing for Puch

ehh... oil is oil to me.. i can see the difference in the 49
