What is the difference, anyway? The 14 obviously gives more of the juicy goodness to the engine... but how? What is bigger/better about the 14?

the difference is 2.
One is a 12mm in the inside, one is a 14mm in the inside.
The 12 allows for less gas/air mixure to pass into the motor, therefore restricting its performance ( this is quite arguabley the intent as the intake is obviously meant for a 14mm )
taking the 12mm choker off your bike and putting a 14mm on it , along with the matching intake IMO is the most significant performance thing you can do to your bike. Id do it way before a pipe, but everyones different.
so think of it this way: the engine is actually designed for a 14mm carb and intake.
it will run with a 12, as the jet in the 12 is made to match the gas/oil mixture to the amount of air passing through the 12mm carb barrel and intake.
14 allows more air, which allows for more gas to be introduced , which means more "juicy goodness" quite literally.
And, what do you think about Bing 15/Intake 15?
Just lot more "juicy goodness"???
this one goes to eleven.
What is a choker? The intake is easy enough to change, but if you have a 12mm, all you need to do to make it a 14mm is to change the choker and intake?
choker meaning restrictive ass intake/carb.
choker as in the carb has a smaller hole... I wouldn't go larger than 15 carb and 15 intake on an unported stock cylinder. Always match the carb to the intake.
it works to a certain extent. throw a 21mm dellorto on there and youll be sorry
ohhh I see, so you can't just turn your 12mm into a 14mm. Its actually made smaller. I gotcha.
Well, you can, if you've got a way to drill it out. There's quite a few guides floating around in here and the performance forums, searches for 'carb' and 'drill' should bring some up.
Or just post a WTB for a 14mm Puch intake. Lots of people have these laying around and it should be cheap. Just make sure you get the right shape opening for the intake port on your motor.
