We attended the Annual Vintage scooter / moped rally in Boston today!
Tim, Sondra, Amanda, Steve Sabat, Joe Ho. Susan and me set out with a huge group of Vintage Vespas and a Lambretta or two and rode out along the Emerald Necklace to a Rallying point at Larz Anderson Park... where after a break and a chance to socialize with the scooter peeps we headed over along the coast to Castle Island for food and relaxation! All the scooter dudes were super cool and friendly.. in fact most of them had stories of owning mopeds as kids...
We really hit it off with them and they asked me to lead the ride from the beach back into downtown.... which is a route we take regularly on our Wednesday rides... quite an honor for the kHz!
Sabat Joe and Amanda came back to my place for a spaghetti feast and decided that since they were giving out awards for different classes and one of them was for mopeds... that we would head over to the bar in Allston where the party was and give the moped category a shot!
I wheeled out the red Sachs G3 that i had just reassembled the day before... Sabat rode my Magnum... Amanda rode Sabat's Tomos with Joe riding the Vespa LX50 and Tim and Sondra met us there!
WELL... needless to say the scooter peeps loved the mopeds... and we were awarded the Gold cup in the Moped category!!!!!
In other words we brought home the Gold cup (a tall can of WD40 with a mini Gold Loving cup on the top} for the kHz!!!!
It was a totally awesome experience... and we made a lot of cool friends... and received invitations to rally with them and wrench on future rides.... it was like history in the making and we were all super glad to be a part of it!
Amanda took tons of great pics and she willbe posting them tothis thread when she gets home!
I can't wait till next year's rally when we can really put together a huge swarm and ride with our new friends again!
