Why would I want mopeds when I get the satisfaction of someone else having the money i worked hard for?

I hate how the goverment say that we have to pay that kinda shitt, we work hard for our money, why the hell should we have to gave the goverment any money its not like they are paying us every pay check they get. (THIS IS COMEING FROM A GUY THAT JUST GOT FIRED FROM A JOD THAT HE DID NOT EVEN WORK A DAY AT)

I work for a "low-income housing" company. It's a scam. Tax credits (they allow you to be tax exempt up to a certain dollar figure) are given to developers, who sell them to huge investment firms to use for their own things. In the meantime the developer gets millions in cash up front. They take these millions and build crazy nice "low-income" housing. Best part is, they build them in the ghetto, because, you know, they want to bring those neighborhoods around. But they don't actually buy the property, they get the government to use eminent domain on these people who _own their homes_ and force them out while giving them some lowball figure for their houses. So, these people can't afford to live in their own neighborhood now because they got no money for their home they were kicked out of, and property prices went up since some company just invested millions in the neighborhood. So what do they do? They move into the low income housing project that just stole their home! And these places are nice, there is no incentive to move out. I did a tour of my company's properties and I was fucking sickened. They are nicer than any place I probably will ever live in.

But the real kicker is that in the middle of all this, some rich developer assholes are raking in 6 figure salaries for destorying communities and forcing people on the government dole.

Oh, and I'm looking for a new job if anyone is hiring in St. Louis...

DMV people are dumb because it's a job for dumb people. They aren't going to fire all the doctors and nurses and transfer all those fat single moms with a GED over to the hospital.

Whilst I'm poking the devils advocate, lest I be accused of bringing nothing to the party, how about means indexed healthcare, keeps the fascists happy- the free market is still referenced and everybody that uses it pays something, Keeps the long hairs happy-no one goes without care and the rising tide lifts all boats. keeps the workers happy-they can still afford healthcare.

Don't worry about taxes, They will always be more than you want to spend, the system will always be freaking huge and complicated. This stems from our country being huge and complicated. I don't think a small govt. can run a large country, unless it's a dictatorship, Monarchy, or Tzarist gov't. Nobody wants that though they are extremely efficient. Don't worry about people leaching off the system either, it can't be helped. It sucks feeding able bodied adults and a lot of people wouldn't care if they were kicked to the curb but to kick those peoples' children to the curb is another story. I've always believed in "workfair" yes it is a form of communism but there are people who's lives are a series of self inflicted disasters and maybe would be happier with a little less freedom and a little more stability. We could put people to work picking up trash, building shelters in disaster areas, digging ditches, all kinds of things.

Tsarists governments and dictatorships are not notably "small" governments. Take Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy as examples. Or even Tsarist Russia circa 1900. Not tiny governments for the times.

If you were paying 10% taxes you'd still complain, everyone would. My problem with taxes is not how much I pay but how poorly it's used. I think we do need to eliminate a lot of waste, not so much in the way of eliminating programs but having better oversight on how it's spent, Seriously if you own a business the IRS watches every damn cent but the govt. has no accountability. Corruption is a part of any government, not by design but by nature, from the greedy contractor to the person faking an injury for disability. You are right about the dictatorship and Tzarist govts though, I wasn't thinking about the massive police force that is always necessary for any form of despotism.
