rear wheel spinning when idling

Is this normal? It seems to ramp up to quite a nice speed unless I hold in the brake. Can this be adjusted?

Thanks!

Dave

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

That means you idle is a to high.

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

loosen your idle screw, and your problem should be fixed..

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

Ahh indeed !

I haven't had a lot of time to tinker with it since my petcock is lametastic. Hopefully I can get that adjusted nicely once it comes in.

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

FYI, I tried adjusting the idle screw... it doesn't really make a difference. Some of these things seem non-interconnected.. for example one part of the day it idled just dandy, no rear wheel spin. Then later.... off it went faster and faster ...

Thoughts?

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

dont ride with your bike on the centerstand and you'll be ok.

Re: rear wheel spinning when idling

if it changes, its probably an air leak. if it snot an air leak, and it isnt changing too much, your throttle cable might be too tight. the idle screw governs how much air passes through the carb when at idle by keeping the slide from closing the intake completely. if theres an air leak somewhere, that adjustment is worthless.
