The gas savings are nice, but I wind up spending the money on parts anyway. I ride them because they are a hobby, and they are fun, and they are kind of "reverse snobbery". I also have 2 old cars and a truck, I mean really old and ugly. That is part of their appeal. They are the total opposite of what almost everybody else has, and it's a lot of fun to drive them on a road covered with new plastic SUVs and luxury sedans that have almost as many electronics as the space shuttle.
