Anybody ever ridden a Vespa Ciao? What do ya think of 'em? Particularly for a newbie like myself.
Have I mentioned yet, thanks to everyone for answer my many questions?

Oh, anybody know how easy it is to get compatible parts should I need anything?
I have lots of Vespa moped parts including parts for Ciao. I just across the bay from you in Cupertino.

Ah, sweet. Thanks for letting me know.
I think you either love, or hate ciaos.
They're like, the super-economy mopeds. Rigid in back, sometimes ridin in front. Some of the seats had really nifty inner springs that made them ridable, and very bouncy.
I've only got to ride one of them, and it was the most scary good fun time I've had.
I have one that I'm putting together. I say if you can get it, do.
they are scary going faster than 35, they can be fast, real expesive kinda a pain to work on.
A stock Ciao is really slow, but they are solid and reliable. The Kinetic TFR is basically a copy of one. The belt drive is great. Parts are available. But they are more of a commuter type moped than something to turn into racer. Nice and basic. Never tried to work on one, but I don't know why it would be especially difficult. They don't even have a transmission. They still brand new ones in Europe, that are just like the old ones here. Peace. Jerry.
Thanks guys! great info, exactly the kind of stuff I was wondering. The one I am looking at is stock, so I guess it'll be slower, but then that's prob ok for a little while whilst I get my bearings.
they have a transmission its in the rear wheel....
I hear that when you start kitting and shit, they get crazy expensive. The term I heard was "money pit."
I had a Ciao for my first bike and absolutely hated it. Sold it fairly soon after getting it. I hated them for a long time...
I'm currently assembling one, and I'm super excited about it. All in all, it's a moped. If your shit sucks, fix it, work on it...
I'll get back to you when mine is running.
We should have a race to build them, Laurie.
That way I might actually finish putting all my kenetic parts on my ciao...
I'm praying to have the majority of it done by the end of the week.
And I don't have a pipe yet :(
Yes do, let's see pics when you're done!
I just need to find what box my carb's in...
And maybe fix the variator.. and buy a new wheel for said variator..
Or just keep buying whiskey and thinking about ciaos...
Whiskey...What I wouldn't give for some right now.
Yeah, mine is going to be a little longer. I still have a starter clutch and back wheel to attach/assemble. I'm putting in some serious hours on it these next two days that I have off of work.
But yeah, I dream about Ciaos during work, while i roll silverware.
Zach, get on the chat. I'm bored, alone, and want to talk about ciaos.
ciao is the best!
they do have transmissions.
please don't put tfr parts in your ciao, for the sake of the bike it self and it's future owners, if not for your own piece of mind.
you can go pretty fast for pretty cheap, but really fast costs money.
some people don't like them, but i do! ciao is the best!
