it has a front hand brake that is essentially useless because of age, and it _had_ a rear pedal brake that worked fairly well. I dont know what happened to it though.. the guy started it for me and i rode around while he was here and the brake worked fine.. pedal backwards and you stopped. Something gave way though, and now pedaling backwards does nothing. I figured itd be a simple fix, but i cant even see what the brake mechanism is supposed to be.
if you look its just a basic wheel setup. theres a pedal and drive chain, a pedal side tensioner, the freewheel, the drive sprocket... and thats it. no brake drum or anything, no brake linkages that would come from the pedal shaft, no visible mechanisms that would actually make the thing stop. haha so i dont know what im supposed to be fixing quite yet. any ideas deezy? the only rear footbrake im familiar with is Sachs, and that is apparently nothing like this.
