I am new to the Bay area, and dying to get my hands on a solid (and decently priced) used moped.
Where can I go to get one?
Thanks!
Dee

Craigslist: all the time. check it daily, hold out for what you want, and call immediately.
Yea San Fransico seems to be where all the good vintage bikes like magnums and stuff appears, but it can be pricey as hell over there
Yeah. I have been stalking craigslist, but prices are a touch steep, and patience is not my strong suit.
I guess every chump is after a cheap ride now with the gas prices.
I will have to be patient I guess.
i used to keep 3 tabs open while at work and refreshed them every 10 mins. Still missed out on many deals.
i keep CL open on my phone (sidekick) and refresh it every 10 min at work to scope on some peds.
Its how I grabbed my newest/favorite.
Just gotta look out for something nice.
also, shop wise, 1977 is about to open their store at 16th and mission, near the bart station, just across from the burgerking.
Oh yeah? Do you know when it's opening? I am so surprised there aren't a on of shops/ repair shops in SF for peds.
There are scooter shops but no moped repair shops.
I'm sure you realize that a unit from a shop will be more expensive that anything on the open market.
Yeah, I do realize that. But this will be my first, I don't know a thing. So, I thought even if I don't buy from a shop, being able to go to one and look at different models and ask questions and get an idea of its functioning and sit on one, ... all that would be a Huge help in buying used.
they are going to be open in another week, but you can go down there and get parts, i'm not sure if they are selling whole mopeds, but i could be wrong.. kuz i did see a brand new tomos in there.
sweeeeeet. are they cool? Think a novice can pick their brains for wisdom.
yeah, i met them, they seem pretty knowledgable. They were up to talking to me about my bike, even though they were drilling and setting up cabinets and walls and stuff. not sure if they are open weekends. but 9-5 on monday for sure? also check their website.. surprised you don't know about it already.
www.1977mopeds.com
I have been to the site. But it didn't say when they were opening or if there would be a storefront.
Thanks for your help, very nice of you!
they are all awesome people at '77, you'll be stoked to know them.
