i need some free advice.

okay im really pissed. i fucked up my moped. drill out the jet to make it go faster and all it did was make it go slower. i know dont tell me how stupid i am. well i tried soldering it and re drilling a smaller size. nope didnt work. its still slow. so wht im going to do is buy a hi flow air filter and a new jet. what size jet should i get? thts all i really need to know. oh and i dont have a bi turbo all ive done is unrestrict my exhaust

Re: i need some free advice.

Throw a kit on that bitch.

Re: i need some free advice.

get the same size jet you drilled out. if you are getting a high flow filter, buy a few jets in the next sizes larger.

Re: i need some free advice.

i have no clue wht size it was.

it was stock so sum1 just give me a number

Re: i need some free advice.

It should say so on the jet.

Re: i need some free advice.

ugh i dont wanna go out and take it apart againnn

Re: i need some free advice.

focus - your comment seriously made me laugh. thank you - i need that at the start of a day like today

Re: i need some free advice.

62.3

Re: i need some free advice.

This may seem like a really silly question, but, a, whats it for?

Re: i need some free advice.

dude your going to have to take it apart to fix it, so whats the big deal, if you don't like taking things apart mopeds may not be for you.

Re: i need some free advice.

i know ive just taken it apart about 15 times today.

Re: i need some free advice.

okay so treats has got a 92 jet would tht be cool with a high flow air filter?

Re: i need some free advice.

if you don't want to take it apart, you could always shrink yourself down and crawl inside it instead.

Re: i need some free advice.

people would be able to help more if you let everyone know what kind of ped it is

Re: i need some free advice.

a 1980 puch maxi

Re: i need some free advice.

with a bing carb

Re: i need some free advice.

dude. no one is going to want to help you if you wont take it apart and look at the thing.

Re: i need some free advice.

No, 90 is going to be WAY WAY WAY too big. Look, you're going to have to take it apart again to put the new jet in. You might as well take it apart now. Just do it. It builds character. If you order the new jets from Treats today, you'll probably have them by Friday or Saturday, Monday at the latest. Do you want to get this thing running properly or not? If yes, GO TAKE APART YOUR CARB AGAIN AND LOOK AT THE NUMBER STAMPED ON THE JET.

If you want some reference numbers, go look in the wiki. You can check out the Performance Tuning spreadsheet which is linked in the Performance Tuning category. You can check out the Bing article (which lists stock carbs and the jets they came with) -- it's categorized under "Parts lists by make and model" right now, I believe. Do a little searching, read up a little. We can't learn this for you.

Re: i need some free advice.

lol last night like 500 people told you not to drill shit and you still did it.. your own fault for not listening to people

Re: i need some free advice.

this should be in the repair section. yeah?

is this for realz?

...wow, lol

Re: i need some free advice.

your going to need a few jet sizes to get it tuned, you can't just pick you think is right, just going up one size can change every thing

Re: i need some free advice.

If you are going to put a high flow air filter on it, you might as well put a pipe on it too, so it can breath, it will run a lot better, then jet it properly for that combination.

Re: i need some free advice.

And if it still has that crappy 1980 Bing on it, you might consider going with something a little bigger and better.

Re: i need some free advice.

you got a lot of reading to do kid, read and ask questions, know how things work befor you start drilling into stuff

Re: i need some free advice.

Pete *YouTube: Moped Problems* /

the jet is probably somewhere between 52-62

Re: i need some free advice.

what size bing? if its a 12 maybe a 64, if its 14 maybe a 68. like everybody says there's not a right number.

Re: i need some free advice.

yeah its a 58. well my dad works on cars and trucks. and when he was about 20 he drilled out his jet in his car on his chevy vega. well tht didnt work for this. its okay ill just buy a new jet and air filter and eventually a muffler. all i wanted to know is what jet sizes should i get to tune it properly. there is a 58 on it now. so which sizes?

p.s. i know it should be in the repair but they r no help. they never respond.

Re: i need some free advice.

I dono if this guy would tolerate anything more complicated than a bing carb..

Drilling it out was a bad move... go look around at the reading material in the wiki...

What jet you need will depend on the size of your carb, and what HP it was labled to have.

If it's got a 14mm carb, probably get jets 58, 60, 62, 64, and 66. E-mail treatshq, he has them.

If it has a 12, probably do 54, 56, 58, 60, 62.

Might be excessive, but all I personally know is that on a puch badged 2hp, with a 14mm carb, at a mile high, you need a 62 or 64 jet, depending on weather conditions/how much your bike sucks.

Really though, go read up on this, if you don't figure this crap out soon you'll just end up asking more newbie questions and getting annoyed when everyone yells at you.
