Moby Bearings/ Mounts

So I'm trying to get my Moby running and want to know if I should replace the engine bearings or grease the wheel bearings? How do I know if they're bad?

Also does anyone know if these are the upper or lower mounts?

How can I tell if I need to replace those?

Thanks

Re: Moby Bearings/ Mounts

Those are uppers. the lower one is less important as the uppers are what keeps your engine straight

The upper mounts need replacing if they look thrashed and your engine is bouncing around.

The engine bearings are a pretty tough job. If the engine spins freely and sounds good don't worry about it.

same with the wheels do they spin freely and sound nice?

Re: Moby Bearings/ Mounts

The manual says I need a special tool to remove the upper engine mounts. Is this true? Is there some other way to do it?

Thanks

Re: Moby Bearings/ Mounts

You can make a puller out of a large socket. I've got one downstairs, I'll take a piccie tomorrow.

(Thanks to Peter M for the suggestion!)

Re: Moby Bearings/ Mounts

use the search...I have it printed somewhere will look it up, just be careful...some of the mounting areas are not real strong and those mounts have been in there a long time. Best of luck...this is my summer ped project as well!
