Indian four stroke

So I just bought my first moped...a '79 Indian Four Stroke. Just wondering if anyone has any good advice, tips or general knowledge to pass on in regards to this bike. Thanx all!

put a lifan 4 stroke on it! check out your bolting pattern then check out the lifans on ebay! that's what i'm working towards!

Re: Indian four stroke

ride it! check tank for rust, clean if needed, put in an inline fuel filter enjoy the only 4 stroke ped ever!

There's a pic of it on my profile

Re: Indian four stroke

hey doug- welcome to the forums.

Re: Indian four stroke

i loved my indian! had a 79 as my first ped. take good care of it, and you might want to snag up parts when you come across them...in case you don't come across them again.

Re: Indian four stroke

what's up bro, I'm am also a new blood, just got a batavus Va, it's violet, or purple, f=ing purple man! Your bike is so sick! I never knew that Indian made peds until I started spending all my free time on MA. Probably the most beautiful mopeds out there in my opinion. I'm not trying to blow up your spot or snatch your secrets but........can you tell me the story of how you found it?

Re: Indian four stroke

Indian is not the only four stroke ever... Kenetic.

Re: Indian four stroke

Honda.

Re: Indian four stroke

DOOGER! Where'd you go bro? What'd you spin in a circle and dissapear?

Re: Indian four stroke

doug is kinda new to the whole forum gig. he hasn't learned that he must log in a thousand times a day to check his posts...like the rest of us addicts.

Re: Indian four stroke

HaHa, Fair enough, I'm just really interested in the stories. I suggested earlier on a different thread that there should be a special forum just for moped aquiring stories, wouldn't that be rad?

Re: Indian four stroke

In general, it is a clone of the Honda PC50

Re: Indian four stroke

dude I rode with has one of those and it has style for miles real quiet

Re: Indian four stroke

Bump for Style.

Anyone ever actually mount a Lifan engine on an Indian?

Re: Indian four stroke

as far as how i got it- two words: craigs list.

i called this dude months ago about a pinto he had listed and he never called back so i figured he'd sold it. he called me out of the blue months later and said he had 3 mopeds he wanted to get rid of. i went to check them out and there it was, the indian. i was sold. he said if i took the pinto (which is beautiful) the indian AND also took a vespa grande (very bad shape, already parted out, basically his garbage) he'd let me have 'em for $600. A STEAL. i had to put my fist to my chin as if in deep contemplation of the deal, but really i was just trying to keep my jaw from falling to the floor. unfortunately, neither of them have titles or any title history (he said he only ever used them at his campground, never on the street) so it's gonna be a hassle to get 'em legal. i'll have fun fun fixin' 'em up in the meantime though.

Re: Indian four stroke

thanks, jen. i guess i'm officially a moped nerd now. i've been cruisin' my indian up and down the block and in circles. i can't wait to get it legit so i can go for real ridin'!

Re: Indian four stroke

you've always been a nerd.
