_yes Rafter is awesome, i love him. but, lets also give some love and respect to moto matics own Nathan Kiehn as well, he is our true unsung hero who does waayyyyy more for mopeds and our own gang than anyone i know. Mike and Nate are a duo and incredible people, don’t forget_
Absolutely. I just didn't know who all to thank. So also a huge thanks to Nate. The craftsmanship is amazing. When I bolted it on the fit was perfect.
_You dont get to go that fast by buying a new pipe._
So here is the setup:
80 metra-case matched.
19mm Dellorto carb
3 shoe clutch
stuffed race crank
moto matic 8p
A huge amount of time went into this and I am extremely happy with how it has turned out. I can hardly believe that I can go 64mph on a moped.
As for carbs, the Dellorto manual states:
-A larger sized carburetor generally allows more power at high rpm ie. a higher maximum speed. However, simply fitting just a larger carburetor may not bring about the desired increase in power output as this often only follows from several additional engine modifications, each designed to improve some other aspect of the engine's performance.
-A smaller carburetor will give better pick-up and therefor in selecting a choke size, you should always balance your power and acceleration requirements.
I started out small, and even with the 18x36 gearing and the pipe i have a good bit of bottom end left that I am willing to sacrifice for more top end. That has been my method on this entire build. I've been conservative on everything and then upgrade from there. Now I am amassing bits and pieces that I will be able to use on a different, less extreme build.
Dylan--We miss you too!!!
Lori -- Thanks. I couldn't stop laughing. This is insane!
The tank is mounted thru the frame with threaded rod and nuts.
