17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

Anybody know what the rpm of a 17"wheel is at 30mph?

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

i think its 7200 not 100% sure though

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

Sorry, I mean... how many times does a 17" wheel turn at 30mph in 1 minute.

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

u gotu divede 60 int 7200 i guess, maybe a madwizz here can do it...

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

480 rpm. I think.... Arrrrrgh.

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

with a tire on there. I think. I hate math.

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

I'm going to say 573.179835 rpm if your wheel is exactly 17" outside diameter

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

593 sorry i can't type

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

Alright....

So at 30mph you are moving at half a mile(2640feet) a minute.

if your wheel is 17" it = 1.416666666 feet

So take 2640 feet per minute and divide it by 1.416666666666666

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

you have to divide by the circumference not the diameter since one revolution of the wheel will make it travel that far.

2640 divided by (1.41666666*pi)= 593.18 rpm

Re: 17" wheel at 30mph rpm?

First you gotta think about the tire on the 17" rim. My gazelle measures 11.5" from the floor to the center of the axle. Making its diameter 23"

233.14=72.22" or 6.0183'

5280' in a mile

5280/6.0183=877.3241 revolutions to cover one mile of distance.

877.3241/2=438.662 rear wheel RPM@30mph

16x45 gearing 2.8125:1 438.6622.8125=1233.73 output shaft RPM

5.05:1 case reduction 1233.73*5.05=6230 crankshaft RPM
