left handed throttle

hey guys im left handed and i was wondering if any of you have ever tried making a left handed throttle instead of the usual right, it would be insanely awesome if there is a way because when i pick up my star bucks of mcdonalds in the morn i cant drink it unless i stop or go really slow

Re: left handed throttle

Haha,

I would think you could drink with your left hand, and drive with your right? Almost an advantage to a lefty.

Re: left handed throttle

nah because my right hand is really bad, like i cant do anything with it unless its simple

so when im driving i cant go more than 5-10 mph with my right alone, if i go 15+ i would probably eat shit and not mcdonalds

Re: left handed throttle

Here was my answer to that problem for myself for my lattes. Its adjustable so it accomodates even the smallest or largest sizes. You still have to stop or slow down, but you don't have to finish it all in one stop, I get the blended so I like to let them melt!

Re: left handed throttle

You could just slap a normal throttle on the left grip and twist it backwards, right?

Re: left handed throttle

Yea, but it would also be upside down. The cable would point towards the rider. I guess who cares though.

Re: left handed throttle

my friend had a bsa like that left hand throttle right hand clutch right shift left foot brake

riding that bike was hard as hell it would take a bit to get used to that

Re: left handed throttle

Start learning to be ambidextrous!

Re: left handed throttle

Ha i used to be when i broke my left arm, right arm was better than my left but i stopped using it and now its worse than when i had it normal

British people have left handed throttles. They also play guitar left handed. But how are you going to work the choke?

Re: left handed throttle

I was sort of thinking about this too the other day. I'm left handed too, and I thought it would be nice to do things backwards, just to screw with all the right handed people. (I have a backwards clock, and it messes with them pretty badly. It's funny.) But I signal with my left hand, and my good brake is under my right hand. If I have to take my right hand off to signal or anything, then I don't have my good brake at hand (bad pun, sorry). Haven't some people converted to lever throttle controls or something? I bet you could rig that up on the left pretty easily.

Re: left handed throttle

Sounds like a cool thing to try

Re: left handed throttle

you could put a thumb throttle, i think that would be easier for you to figure out kiddo. dont want to get your hands all confused

Re: left handed throttle

hook up the throttle to a brake lever, it works

Re: left handed throttle

i just want a left handed throttle so i can hold hands with people during rally rides.

Re: left handed throttle

Don't get me wrong the left hand throttle to screw with people would be great. However, perhaps your looking at the problem the wrong way. Heres 2 different solutions followed by 1 question.

Solution 1

Perhaps the use of a Camelbak would allow you to enjoy hands free Latte sipping. I'm not sure how well they take hot liquids though.

Solution 2

You could handle bar mount you beverage with a motorcycle cup holder that swivels they are readily available. Add a piece of tubing and once again you can enjoy hands free Latte sipping.

Question

Why do you have a moped? Is it to save $ in any way? if so perhaps not drinking that overly price beverage could be even better.

my 2 cents

Re: left handed throttle

hehe mcdonalds is 69

Re: left handed throttle

Ahhh yes. Free joe, that's how I take mine too.

Re: left handed throttle

Putting your throttle on the left hand side would inevitably disturb the orbit our planets. Here's the solution:

Remove the speedo from the headlight , presto - instant cup holder. Grab about a dozen straws the next time you're at the trans fat arches and tape them all together with duct tape making a gigantic straw about 3' long. Get a rubber band and tape it to your helmet. Twist the rubber band around one end of the straw - leaving about 4" sticking out so you can spit it out just before you crash. Tape the other end to your handle bars and lead the end to your speedo hole.

The planets are safe and you'll be able to ride off into the sunset sipping your favorite beverage.
