Question about head gasket

Damien Weaver /

Heya scooterheads... I've got to take the cylinder head off of my little Garelli to investigate why it's not turning over (It's been in somebody's basement for however many years). But once I do, I'll need a new head gasket for when I re-attach it. Do I really need to order the specific Garelli head gasket from mopedjunkyard.com or whatever, or can I just sort of fake one out of gasket-in-a-can? Any advice is very appreciated.

Thanks and happy mopedalling,

Damien

P.S. If anybody in the New England area has a pair of older mopeds they want to get rid of cheap, even if they don't run, let me know. I realize this is the wrong forum, but just in case. (They'd be his and her wedding presents for friends of mine)

Re: Question about head gasket

If you have an all metal head gasket, you don't need a new one as long as it's not damaged.

Re: Question about head gasket

You can cut a new gasket from a used aluminum beer can, if you come in need of that.

Well, Michigan is not new england...but yeah, I have a pair of old suzuki Fa-50's, one runs, the others a parts machine.

You wish to haul them off and put the work into them, I'd let them go cheap - I simply want rid of them, having recently purchased a Targa.
