If it says Malossi on the head you probly at least have a high comp head, and I'd say it's likely you have a kit. Does it say Brevetata Malossi on the cylinder? What does the piston look like? Take some pictures, especially if you can get the head off and take one of the cylinder.

And those pipes are called expansion chambers. Take a picture of it, too.

Um damn. I dont know what kit that is, but it sure as hell isnt a stock vespa cylinder or piston. Porting looks slightly similar though ot identical to the 65cc Malossi I have on mine, but the piston is radically different. Looks like it has racing rings, though, and does look like a Malossi piston. The crank also looks to be aftermarket, couldnt tell you what kind. Sweet find, man. How fast was it going?

I don't know how fast it goes because there was no fuel line or spark plug wire when I bought it. Thinking that it's a stock ped I began taking it apart just to find this sweet dealio here. I plan to replace the flywheel, put my 13.13 carb on it (unless the one that came with it is a 13.13, I haven't checked yet) with my polini intake and put this engine on my other grande which I am restoring right now. The only thing I don't like about this engine is that it has no oil injection and I don't know if trading cases would be a good idea. When it comes to checking my engine and cleaning it out I will refer to you guys for proper procedure.

I paid 300$ CAN for it with a lot of extra parts and guess what!!! in the box of parts I just found the stock crank, piston, and head!

One question, when I put it back together, do the rings have to be alligned a certain way?

Yeah, Malossi recommends 32:1 on the 65cc kit, and that right there may well be a 70 (cant tell if the case has been widened or not). The Vespa injection will be set to meter 50:1, so you'd have to ditch the injection anyway.

You can use your polini pipe, but there junk, sell it and get a simonini.

well, all of this is really good to hear :D I think I just might put it on my '78 grande :). I'll need some advice as to how to clean it and stuff and what precautions to take. James, imagine I decided to buy a kit, and when it came in only THEN would I have found this out haha

Haha something close to that probably. + the variator, + the pipe. I'm quite happy, I just need to find time to get it all together now :) exams are done in 2 weeks so I guess that's when I'll get working on it :D

and they still make a malossi kit that looks like that but i have only seen it on 50cc.nl it looks kinda like the race kit but iono. Either way its going to haul
