Buying first moped a little help

im looking at a 1978 honda hobbit. its really nice and has a good price but i would be interested in upgrading the engine for a little more power. can i get any help? maybe a website with a kit or something? any thing would be helpful

Make sure that it is a yellow PA50II (30mph) model.

You DO NOT want the red PA50I (20mph) model.

Hobbits are nice mopeds ( the yellow one ) they are one of the better made ones, but they are complicated. I would recommend a Puch E50 stepthrough, or a late model Tomos stepthrough as your first moped. Both have tons of hop up parts and unlimited information about what works and what doesn't. But, with vintage mopeds, you have to take what you can get, unless you are lucky enough to live in one of those areas where it rains vintage mopeds, and they also grow on trees. I've never owned a Hobbit, but I hear a lot of complaints about how hard they are to work on. Peace. Jerry.
