New to the moped world,help me!

Hello everyone. so i im buying a 79 indian four stroke,only problem it doesnt run.

the guy says it might be something simple the wire to the spark plug he doesnt really know either. are the pedals on this thing to ride it freestyle like a bike or to start it? any good shops,mechanics,parts for this thing? please help

I never had an Indian, but if they are like most peds; the pedals are for starting it as well.

Where are you from? Your location is really what determines the shoppes and repair. The repair forum has some good info on it for doing things yourself. Most everyone on this forum has a moped because we enjoy both riding and working on them ourselves. Good luck.

A nice Indian wold be a proud addition to any collection. However parts are going to be nearly impossible, and as far as a good mechanic goes, you would be that mechanic. The good news is that even the most difficult moped is essentially easy to work on. Indian has the unique quality of being four stroke, and 4 stroke engines are much less fussy. If it's cheap (under $200) and the engine turns over I'd go for it. Probably 70% of broken mopeds are dirty carbs, 25% dirty ignition points and the rest are either Motobecanes or Jawas.
