What is up at Motor West?!?!?

Hi folks,

My ears are burning so I have dcided to log-in, register, and spill my guts for you.

Many of you have been hearing that Motor West is going belly up or some such thing. I am her to tell you what is really going on.

Special thanks to Cynthia Malinowski, and Dave for telling me that the internet word is that my business is dying.

I never wanted to have to bear my soul in such a way, but I think that all of you deserve an explanation.

I know that the Moped Army has become a force to be reckoned with and that-kicks ass. Motor West is a tiny little part of the whole moped scene. That said; I know that many of you look to us for help with your 1954-on MS 50's and even more for help with the Maxi line. I love and appreciate every one of you for that.

The truth is that after 17+ years of running M/W I am going through a classically bad divorce. I'm working less than my normal 50+ hours every week, and on top of that we are one person short in the office.

Please bear with us. I am trying to find a new inside sales person, and I am trying to get our website on faster dedicated server.

We are falling woefully behind on e-mail inquiries and phone messages. Our two active phone lines barely keep up with the load. Often both are busy for hours on end. I literally wear a headset and try to work and answer calls at the same time, but often I just jump from line to line.

This isn't some million-dollar business. My dedication to the Puch line comes from pure passion. It kills me to miss calls and e-mails, and it hurts M/W to miss orders. I can only ask that you have patience with me/us while this ugliness plays out. We will rise above this pettiness, and be stronger than ever. In all likelyhood it will be late October before this all goes into the history books. In the meantime I am looking to add one new person in the office to help with the load, and the site will speed up soon.

Thanks for your years of patronage, and support. Please don't think that we just don't care, but instead understand that we are a small business in a small industry, and right now we are experiencing our worst challenge yet.

Thanks for letting me vent/explain.

Regards-Matt (owner-Motor West, Inc.)

Sorry to hear that Matt. You run a great service and have always been super helpful to me. Once this blows over your business should be much improved. Take care -Jason

Re: What is up at Motor West?!?!?

Yikes , Been there. Hope all is well .

On another note , you could have just made the best decision to respond on the MA. Since it appears you do have quite a few members in your area . Perhaps you can find a few "Trustworthy ,Punctual and Responsible" members to help you out bigtime, especially the phones , shipping ,website and inventory control. You have someone that fits each category from what I've seen over the years. Assuming you find someone from here , you might gain an awsome source from a more technical perspective too. It's no big surprise that most if not all peds end up modified and the elite few who know what they're doing can probably assist you in a big way. Finding help from the MA pretty much guarantees someone who has the drive and passion to help the hobby survive and that in itself would benefit everyone , myself included . Good Luck

Very cool. I was one of those wondering what was going on after getting busy signals for weeks. I appreciate you getting a hold of me yesterday to complete my order. In the end, my parts aren't more important than someone's sanity.

Re: What is up at Motor West?!?!?

I'm sorry to hear that.

I agree with ken tho- i think leaving a explanation and resoning behind it is a great way to keep things as postive as possible.

I don't know ya, but Im GONNA be getting real familiar with ya and your going to get real familar with my back account as i try to rescue a 59 allstate from the grave

Good luck in what must be an unpleasant time.
