This may be a dumb question but I run a 20x2.25 tire on the front of my street bike(bmx) that holds 120psi and its a rugged tire. good tread and all. I dont know how wide the stock targa rim is but my bmx rim is 1.75 wide. Would this tire work on the moped??

I assume you mean 20x2.125. It will fit, but it won't last very long. Bicycle tires are not designed for sustained high speeds, and heavy loads. The dangerous part would be fast cornering, causing the weak sidewall to collapse, and possibly causing a crash. 30 mph may not seem very fast, but it is way faster than most bicycles get ridden. It'll fit, but it won't perform well. Motorcycle and moped tires have layers and use rubber designed for road use. Bicycle tires have no sidewall strength and are thin and flexible, plus they have very thin tread.
Its a cheap way to get a serious injury...AKA a very bad idea...unless you don't enjoy being physically and mentally able.
There is one exception. You can get those fold up bicycle tires, without the wire bead, that also fit the Tomos rim. It's an easy way to carry a spare tire, for emergency use only, at slow speeds, until you can get a real moped tire. You just have to remember what you are riding on. Like those donut spares cars use. You have to go slow, and replace it with a real tire asap. It's not that dangerous as long as you know about it. In an emergency, you have to do what you have to do. But I would never recommend a bicycle tire for regular use on a moped, they are just not strong enough. Peace. Jerry.
