Input for a pin striping color

Well i finshed my tomos tank today, i jsut have to clear coat it and my friend used some kinda of pinstriping tape on his tank the you attach after your clear coat. So i was curious what would go good with Metallic Red and high gloss white. i was thinking a gold or blue.

Re: Input for a pin striping color

I'd say a thin gold or a thin black pinstripe would look pretty good.

I agree, a thin black would pop the white and look very kool. I freehand my pin designs, but will use 1/8" tape on outlines and edge pins on my frames. I used black tape around the white lip of the fender and the white of the headlight bucket. Makes for a crisp edge and I always clear OVER the tape, freehand over the clear. Good luck.

Re: Input for a pin striping color

oh so clear coat of the tape. and how do i make it so u cant tell were the tape started and where it finished jsut over lap the ends a bit?

You can overlap, get a fresh single edge razor blade and make a nice cut through both...pull the overlap off. The clear will keep the tape from opening up..I assume you're talking about catalyzed auto poly clear, not rattle stuff. Good luck.

Re: Input for a pin striping color

no im useing rattle can clear but doing like 5 coats of it.

In that case, put the tape OVER the clear. Rattle clear is way too thin.

Re: Input for a pin striping color
