Seriously man... It's because it's such a simple little thing, with no failsafes, that it should not be used.
You can have carb/fuel/electrical problems, and you'll find out about them, and be able to fix them. If your oil pump fails, your warning is an engine siesure, which is most often results in the death of the ped.

As a collective, we have way more riding hours in on these than the dudes designing them, so when you get an overwhelming answer from the Moped Army, it's as good as fact. Still subject to intelligent speculation, but really, this isn't something to argue.
