To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

I just posted this in the wrong forum...

http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/discuss/7/96357/96357/

So I just got back from Mexico yesterday (I’m exhausted); my custom bikes are far from ready (I could get at least the Pinto3 rolling, but no paint, no seat cover, no 5-stars and maybe a non-broken-in kit); but I do have 2 "stockish" 30+ pintos, a 30mph Malaguti commuter, a 30mph City bike, a 33+ NC50, and couple of MB-5’s.

So should i take off work on Wednesday to work on the Pinto3 or just say fuck it and bring "stockers"?

Take one of the normal Pintos. You won't be riding alone.

Roll stock. You don't want a bike that is not tuned/broken in. The Dcons have a couple of long rides planned, bring one that you think is comfy and can make the ride. The ride to Punk's place is like 15 + miles and then the ride on sunday is a good long one as well.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

yep yep

at rallies always go with reliable over fast... in the midwest at least.

come out, its a great time.

Stock it. Go with your comfy, riding-like-you've-got-all-day bike.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Stock, man. Don't stress it. I mean, I wanted my custom Pinto to be done for the rally, too, but I just dropped off the frame with my welder over the weekend and that marks the very beginning of the project... I don't even have a single running one at the moment, but I know I can get my Magnum ready a lot sooner, since it's mostly all there. I might have to skip out on Friday to tune things up though. Phooey...

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Go stock with me, Derek!

Also, call me tonight about how you're getting thar.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

I'll go stock with you anytime Zack.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

You'll go any way with me, and you know it.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

i am gonna go stock probably unless i can measure and weld a pipe thats coming Friday for the rally the next day

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Take one of your MB-5's. You will not regret it.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

We can all have a seperate stock party, as my 103 project needs more fancy pants parts to keep me from throwing my flywheel through more things.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Yeah, looks like I'm ridin' slow a kazoo, too. YAY, Denver represent!! (and glenwood, too:)

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

glad i won't have the only stock bike on the denver bus.

my only "mod" is a biturbo, and a 36 rear gear.

so stoked.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

its ok everyone, i'm going to be in the back of the pack making sure everyone keeps up and whatnot... you know you want to ride near me!

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

me too. The only mods my Moby has is a Delorto 15 15 and 40 pounds of extra ass to counteract the power of the carb.

Oh, we painted the bus. It's a surprise.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

zack clued me in on the painting, but no details.

can't wait to see it!

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

wasn't derek doing the mono shock?

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Thanks for the input; it took some stress off for sure getting all the stock votes.

So I decided I'd compromise, I stayed up till 4am last night taking a pile of moped parts and turned them into the Pinto2.5. The Pinto2.5 is essentially the same thing as the Pinto3 minus powder coat/5 stars/Gila/24mik flatslide/8p/CDI/custom seat. I then striped an engine off another pinto, some wheels I had in the rafters and put on the stock seat; so yes I'll be rolling a mono-shock just a slow ugly version.

Now to put in a 1/2 day at work and get home and wire it up, pick an exhaust (estoril/PromaGP/Bi-Turdo/Boss/Superstocker), pick a clutch and do some test miles. (I wish the list stopped there; mount tire, fix a flat, replace 2 switches, re-pack wheel bearing, arghhh.)

I'm living in this strange place between exhaustion and exhilaration and anxiety...

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

RU2 driving alone out there? lets keep in touch on the phone. We're leaving at 9 from my place.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Dawn and I are renting an F-150 and planning on leaving around 1-2 on Thursday; stopping in Chicago on Friday to pick up Dawns Brother and then heading to KZoo; I've got to go to Lansing Friday night/Saturday morning.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn, I got 2 rooms/4 beds.

Yes phones comm for sure.

If anyone wants to jump in from CO or along I-80 let me know, we've got room for one person and one bike.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Blahhhh....4 hours of sleep in 48 sucks, but at least it wan't all for not.

Loaded up 4 bikes this morning (Pinto2.5, Pinto, City bike and a 50Va); driving to Denver as I type; putting in some hours at the office there and meeting with the CDPHE-APCD and then hitting the road. I'm hoping to get on the road by 4-5; maybe make it though Nebrasska today.

Hope to hit Chi-town sometime shortly after noon Friday, and KZoo a few hours from them.

I'm driving to Lansing Friday afternoon/evening to pick up a bike if anyone needs a ride to KZoo.

Can't wait to rally again!!!!

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

im almost stock. homoet 4p and 15mm bing.

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

The Pinto's are "stockish"; Proma GP's, high flow filters and HC heads on both.

The Pinto2.5 has a 15 bing, 16mm intake, a super lightened(80g)/balanced 2-shoe clutch, high gearing (18x45) and 2.25 sava's on spokes. The regular pinto is geared super low (14x45, might switch to a 15-16 for the long ride), has slightly lightened(92g)/balanced 2-shoe w/PAZ springs, snowflakes with IRC NC53 2.25F/2.5R.

The City bike is totally stock, in fact just barely broken in with <300 miles on it.

The 50Va is also totally stock.

***VANILLA BLUNDER*** /

i hate the fact you have pintos to choose from

Re: To take off to get ready for KZoo or not...

Sorry I got a thing for them, got 5 right now 3 yellow, 1 red, and silver pinto2.5.

I'm starting to have the same problem with MB-5's but as of late the 70cc/homet/21del red one has been my favorite.

Just talked to Willie, the bus is in Nebrasska and on it's way...

See you tomorrow!
