i love my 2007 streetmate. It rides really smooth, its really quick with you put a 22 tooth rear sprocket on and its a really good all around bike.
The storage built in is nice and secure so you dont need to buy a box for it.
I have one and love it. The big tires and great brakes make it safer and the big seat make it comfortable. The motor is strong. The biggest problem is the fuel storage is too small.
yea the fuel storage is like .98 gallon and the reserve is .06 i believe so its a little bit over a gallon, still gets 100+ mpg average
thats the only thing i found wrng with the streetmate but its gas and refill it in 2 secs
id just advise getting a pedal model one.
I got the peg one, and kept having cops pull me over and yell at me to ride with the speed of traffic , even though i kept yelling "MOPED"
The other issues i had were other people thinking i should go faster than it could go - cuase it looks like it will do 60, and the plastic pieces vibrating and making a horrible rukus.
def miss those disc brakes and that ride tho. And that capacity to carry shit.
All in all i still dont think a streetmate is a bad deal at all for its price.
Hey it's a Tomos the best new moped imported to the U.S ( only new moped still imported) It seems tough as shit. I heard of ones going 20,000+ miles. For the money the street mate is a deal as with all the other models.

I kinda like the way they look, and ther's 2 in town here. Alas, I never ride with them, as one is owned by an older lady that works at the sheriff's office, and the other one is owned by an elitist. I think they are okay, but skip the oil resevoir, and mix your own fuel. This is for the BEST.
I am also unique and NO ONE on this planet is even slightly like me, even though some claim to be. Not even close.

Streetmate? It's a Tomos, top quality. Does it have pedals instead of pegs? Pedals are very important for comfort on trips. Does it have a large seat? Does it have luggage capability? Except for the small, hard seat a Tomos Targa LX can't be beat for all around everythinging.
My Tomos has oil injection and no problems at 10,000 miles .. but the new Tomos injector couplings are "maybe" prone to giving out at 500. There is a forum discussion about the new injector.
Any Tomos moped is good quality, EXCEPT for the oil injection, which is crap on all of them. I don't like the looks of the Streetmate, looks to much like a motorcycle to me, and I have 2 of those. I think a moped should look like a moped. But that is just my opinion. Get the one you like, get rid of the oil injection, and you'll be good to go. Peace. Jerry.
As far as the oil injection goes, you are the exception, not the rule. The oil injection on both my '03 ST and my '05 ST was junk. At least the tank, lines, and connections were. The pump LOOKED like it might be decent quality, but then there's that defective drive system. Also, a Tomos oil injection system can experience an infinite number of degrees of failure. If you get 10,000 miles out of a Tomos engine using the oil injection, who's to say that you might not have gotten 20,000 or 30,000 out of it by premixing? Just because it seems to work doesn't mean it's working right. A long long time ago, I bought a '71 Harley Sportster from this guy, who had done a lot of custom work on it, including braided stainless steel oil lines. I rode it around town for several months, with only minor problems, then decided to take a trip on it in the middle of summer. It seized up solid about 20 miles east of Lordsburg, NM. Turned out the fittings on the custom stainless steel oil lines were a little to small, and the engine hadn't been getting quite enough oil all along. When I tried riding it for an extended period at freeway speeds in 115 degree heat, that finished it off. Peace. Jerry.
