The past two years has not been good for the 'conservatives' in our government. What has me flabbergasted is that a Pastor somehow managed to hog-tie himself while wearing two full wet suits, flippers, scuba style face masks, leather bondage gear, a costume face mask and a very precarious object placed inside himself and then suffocated.
Ever since the fall of '06 it seems that the most vocal anti-homosexual advocates left the closet in the most damning ways possible. I always had a feeling that those who were most vocally apposed to such a sexual disposition were simply trying to hide or deny their own feelings, that the GOP was full of Drunken Senators who stalked high school aged boys home to their dorms after the kids put in a hard days volunteer work for them.
As much as I wish our nation was truly founded on the written laws of the Constitution, studying actual US history sheds light on just how corrupt our forefathers really were. There never was a legal president for the separation of church and state as one might read it now but rather simply warm and fuzzy words which could be invoked every now and again by a judge doing the elite's bidding against their foes. While our Constitution is in now way 'Christian Law' it is far from being non-religious and secular and throughout the Judicial systems existence, a very conservative existence, they tended to side with religion, namely the conservative elements of Christianity and ruled against more progressive movements. I am in no way surprised this very trivial issue has been made into what some want you to equate to the century's greatest moral battle yet.
Our economy is going down the shitter, we outsourced most everything possible and expected that somehow we would be even more prosperous in a finite world experiencing massive globalization, billions of people entering the 'global marketplace' accumulating wealth and commodities with their new means of income, all of this pushing up the cost of the limited supply of goods which can be produced and the means to power production, Oil.
Are we doomed? Probably not, but the USA's run at the single global super-power has ended and with that, our decline as an empire will follow all previous historical examples of a slow contraction under enormus internal and external stresses. Rome and Washington DC share a closer history then you might imagin.
