Why?
Because I can.
I got the temp plate today, and did all my calling around so that I'll get it looked at by the right cops when I take it in tomorow.
Seems the easiest way to do it in our state is to re-title it as a bus designed to carry fewer passengers (14). As long as the title says 15 or less, and it's under 26,001 GVW, you don't need a CDL.
But this isn't a post about that. This is a post about how much I love driving this freakin bus... I'm not ashamed to say that I nearly shed a tear of joy as I ripped down Highway 52.
I still can't believe we pulled this off. Ryan, dude, thanks. This wouldn't have happened without you.
Buying, titling, and driving in an old bus to the biggest moped rally of the year.. I never would have guessed we'd be in a place to do this a year ago. Hell, a year ago I was shlepping a broken J.C. Penney Pinto onto the roof of my jeep, having never ridden a two wheeled motor vehicle. Now I clean carbs, crack cases, replace old electrical systems... Kit the fuck out of my Peugeot.
Peugeot! I didn't even know that existed a year ago, and now I spend more time with one of their bikes than I do with most people. Granted the numbers are skewed by my current location away from the people who I'd like to be around.
Hopefully this rally will even up the score on that one.
Yeah, this is sappy, but I don't freakin' care. I just drove around in my gang's fuckin' bus! The Moped Bus!
I'm thinkin' Saturday night we do a bus party, since Ryan can't come this friday. Get it to his back yard, and get fucking hammered in it, break that baby in.
Thank you Willie, for bringing this gang together. And thank you Moped Army, for giving us a reason to do otherwise unreasonable things.
