Is it possible to adjust the handlebars forward and backwards on a 1978 Puch Maxi? It seems like there isn't but I'm thinking there's got to be....
I can see a six sided bolt which I imagine will let me adjust them up and down, but forwards and backwards?
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah... you can!
There are two braces that you can take the bolts out of that hold the bars down.... just loosen those bolts and you are good to go... There should be 2 on each brace.
I know what you mean by the braces because my girlfriend's Batavus has them...
But their are none on this Puch Maxi... it's all one piece, connected at the center that goes straight down into the "frame"...

But has anybody else seen this style of handlebar on a moped? I guess it's like a bicycles...
a bit annoying but nothing major...

There are no Allan heads that I can see... where would they be?
Nick ,are they the style the same as a bicycle? your right ,the 1 bolt will only let go up and down.but it odd to see them on 78.
I thought so to, Dan. My Maxi is a 78 and it has the allen bolts and braces.
Maybe it was a repair job?
I Had to look at one of my 5 Puch . i had changed the bars ,it my coffee table now. It is a 77,iknow the 76maxi s had them on. There not hard to change . Dan
my free spirit and my brothers maxi both have allen heads
Correction, I believe the moped is a 1975. Would that explain the different style handlebars or do you think it was a repair job?
i think their stock on 75 , i had a 76 &77 that had them on.
