carb tips welcome

Hey gang... I need some help find a carb.. that will fit onto m 102... I think mattwilson has put a diffren't one on his peugeot.... How does it work..... was it expensive?

Also... My Casal moped carb is leaking pretty bad now... It comes and goes.. I just cleaned the carb there was some junk in it.. but now its like the float is stuck open becusae gas is filling up the carb and it is leaking at the top and from the air filter...

What cuases this? Could this also be why now msteriously the moped idles just fine but boggs out under full thoral when it used to be the exact opposite?

PLug chop shows its fine... Just can't figureou why some dirt in the carb would help it to idle and hender it from being able to top out? Any suggestions.. I think it has a Bing stle Carb... bowl ont he bottom with a brass jet that unscrew also in the bottom... thanks...

Duck,

I got a malossi 15mm carb and manifold from 50cc.nl. It is actually a dellorto 14 or 15mm carb with a malossi manifold.

I have an extra gurtner carb kicking around.... I fixed it with a new float after I got the new carb. Do you have an extra cylinder and piston? If so I'll trade you.

I dont know if this would fit on a 102...I've never seen one.

Matt

Re: carb tips welcome

looks like it would work.. I don't think I would need the manifold though.. just the carb.. I sure wish I had an extra cylender and piston just laying around..

Do you think any ole carb would work? I know the same one is used for the 103 and 102 only diffrences is jet size..

ow hard was it to link your thortal cable to the dellorto?

Thakns for the quick reply

fiddled with it.. now this

I decide to go fool aorund with the Casal Bing Carb. It was trashy agian i emptied the bowl .. didn't look really bad.... I don't think but yes there was some crapola in it. I am not sure what to do.. I don't have compressed air righ now.. would the best thing to just buy a can of duster.. (the compressed air in a can) or would that be the same as just using carb cleaner?

I still have a problem of it smoking like mad... I mean it SMOKES LIKE A MOFO. I cleaned the exhuast with a torch and I got a handful of carbon stuff out of it...

Also.. I took the plug out and it looks brand new other then it being wet.. almost dripping wet with gasoline.

I noticed too after stalling out it might not crank right up.. but if you wait a few minutes it will.. do you htink it is becuase the gas on the spark plug evaporates? What cuases the gas to gt on the plug? And msoking.. I thoguht it was becuase my mixture was to much oil.. but I Thinned it out.. by pouring more regular gas not mixed into it and swishing it around.. like a half gallon and it still is smoking form the pipe.

Where is the idle adjustment.. I thikn I found the mixture screw.. becuase I can turn it allt he way in and all the wa out and it doesn't seem like the bike runs much diffren't either way.. and there isn't anouther screw that I can find to turn... for idleing? Please help if you can.

PS.. I'm Even using NO SMOKE 2 stroke oil.. and still smoking like a banshee while stoped.

wow that probly 2 or 3 problems at once.. but i think they all might be related.. thanks Don Zippy and anyone else that can help.

The cables were pretty easy to install. I just used bike brake and shifter cables and ground the heads to fit with a dremel. It took some time but its better than shelling out the big $ for a peugeot specific set.

>>I don't have compressed air righ now.. would the best thing to just buy a can of duster..

Just use the carb cleaner in a can...it usually blasts the gunk out. If not use a thin wire, or let it soak overnight.

>>I still have a problem of it smoking like mad...

If you are using the correct oil to gas, then you should burn out the exhaust again. I have noticed that sometimes when I first get a moped to run it will smoke for about an hour, but anything beyond that and you should check out the exhaust some more.

So get a smaller jet duck! That could be causing the smoke as well.

Maybe. I dont really know.

>>What cuases the gas to gt on the plug?

You main jet is too big and so not all of the gas is getting burned. Thats why it is leaving a residue and perhaps fouling your plugs

If there are 2 screws one is the idle and one is the mix.

Perhaps because your main jet is way to big, the idle screw isn't making as big an adjustment as it should.

And duck, does your bike have a bing carb like a sachs? If so what size is the main jet?

I may have one I can send you depending on the size. Let me know.

Re: fiddled with it.. now this

Youre flooding out your engine duck! I bet that your carb is leaking down the manifold into the crank...

So dont forget to put more oil in that gas too... dont want to burn your bearings.

Re: fiddled with it.. now this

zippy what cuases this and how do i sto it.. the jet is original.. looks sparkly clean... It didn't do this when i first got it.. and no ther eis only one screw ont he side of the carb.. It looks like a bing.. but doesn't say bing anywhere on it... It does have a B with a crown(like a kings crown) on the inside portion.. how do i tell jet size and ill look.. Thanks!

Re: fiddled with it.. now this

Unscrew the jet, and it is printed o it :)

Re: fiddled with it.. now this

DOH!

Duck,

That sounds like a bing carb.
