Bi Turbo is Too LOUD!

Ataristyle /

I have just recieved my Bi Turbo Muffler, 27 tooth sprocket and a #56 jet today. I installed the jet no problem along with the turbo muffler. I am having trouble installing the sprocket. I have taken the motor completely off the moped to realize I cant get to the sprocket that way. Maybe on the left side were an allen wrench will fit is the place to take apart? I had trouble tightening the 10mm nuts on the studs for the exhaust. There is hardly any room to turn a wrench. I tightened it as tight as I could get it. I started the Tomos LX ('98) up and it was so damn loud. I started it up at 10:15pm in my condos garage. I saw the oil smoke puffing out the back. Is it possible that the nuts might not be tight enough? I started it up outside and wanted to cruise around but was way too loud and didnt want to piss off the neighbors. Please someone help me out on this. I had to purchase a metric wrench set because of this. Luckily Kmart was open. Have I just stumbled into something that is more annoying than Imported cars with LOUD mufflers?

Tony

RE: Bi Turbo is Too LOUD!

the biturbo is actually very quite if it is tightend to the engine properly. I had the same problem you do with the wrench fitting. you may not want to do this, but i removed the exhaust studs, and used allen bolts to hold the pipe in place, that way you can tighten it with getting the wrench in the way. however, they did come loose every month or so, so you might want to use lock-tight or something

by the way, i would be careful with that jet. i think you should stick with the old one. I bought a #53 jet that made my tomos run rough at high speeds

Thanks...I like the allen bolt idea. I may just have to pick some up at the Hardware store tomorrow. Also...Jet #53 is stock on my Tomos. They recommend #56 if I'm putting the pipe on and the 27 tooth sprocket. This way it will run a little richer as I'm told. Thanks again!
