Hey? You! Yeah!
Ever felt like you had more to give back since you shed those two excess strokes? Does your aimless moped hobby leave you wanting more than some seized dreams and some wild weekends? I've been there friend.
Over the next two months, the Queen City Barons are going to be working together to assemble items that are most needed at our local shelters as they begin preparing for winter. We would like to encourage you to do the same! And for what in return you might ask!? NOTHING! HA! Wait... no... that can't be true...
But first, a brief history...
Years ago, a much younger QCB hosted an event called the "Soup Can Cup." For a day in the fall we would break into teams and race around our city to see who could collect the most, crowning them the most clever and charitable. Over the years the focus has shifted to what our local shelters need the most, these being coats, socks, toiletries, blankets, and the like. A bit too cumbersome to race and collect on a moped, ehh?
To be honest, I'm still working on the logistics of how to keep this safe and fun, so this won't be a "race." And we still haven't planned the ride lool. But for now, we'd like to encourage you to reach out to YOUR local shelters and find out what kind of donations they are in need of most! Some ideas we've had are domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, lbgtq+ support centers, transitional housing shelters... There are so many possibilities and the sad reality of just how many people could use your help! Once you've identified the beneficiary of your benignity, it's always a great idea to reach out to the center directly to see what they need.
If you're joining in on the fun make sure to keep track/post here on your progress so I can keep score. While I figure out how to coordinate this event and deliver the spirit of competition....
